If like me you have an iPhone and don't want to switch to Android for Android Auto I recommend getting either a Samsung Galaxy S5 or Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini.
Both can be had in good condition for about £ 50 on eBay. I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and paid £ 53.90 for it including delivery on eBay.
They both run Marshmallow 6.0 which while not the latest is compatible with Android Auto.
