    Default 451 Smart Brakes Binding????

I have a 63 plate 451 brabus, when I pull away from stationary I can hear the brakes 'dragging' if that makes sense??! Where do I start in sorting out this issue? Ive only just brought the smart and the front pads and discs are new as the original owner had full merc history therefore I guessing the problem is in the rear drums?

Guessing just costs needless expense and isn't the smart way to progress through the issue.

Get the car up on each corner in turn and check/confirm what's happening , like any other car.

Free help is here for dismantling if necessary: https://www.fq101.co.uk/how-to-guides/fortwo-451

As above but an easy check is if a wheel is much hotter/warmer than the others. That would suggest a sticky caliper or binding drums .... maybe someone has been a bit enthusiastic with the handbrake adjuster ....

PS: Check the rear reluctor rings whilst you’re looking at the rears.

    Generally:

Thanks guys, its really odd, I jacked up all 4 wheels and spun them and they all move freely without any drag??!

I wonder what my problem could be?

When I pull away there is always a resistance / drag sound?

    Spring broken ?
Check the ride height all round with relation to the body panels as a quick guesstimate.

How about those rings ? Did you check ‘em

Have you checked wheel bearings for wear?

See if you can someone to walk along (or you do a slow ish drive by them) with the car at each corner in turn, in an empty (quiet) carpark for example
