Default 2008 smart 451 - panel replacement - bodyshop in NW?

I want to replace the rear bumper centre section and offside rear panel on my 2008 smart 451 because they are scuffed. I already ordered the parts and read the procedure on Evilution but it looks too complicated for me to attempt on my own without damaging something.

Can anyone recommend a bodyshop in the NW (near Chester?) that has experience of working with Smart 451s, that could do this simple job? How much should the labour cost?

Quite a few videos on YouTube showing how they all come off .... in all honesty I've only done the front of my 451 & rear panels of my 452 (Roadster) but it's all pretty straight forward.

This is one .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNq0-BiD1Pg not sure I'd use a chisel on the plastic rivets 😲

    On a 451 they’ll undoubtedly arrive unpainted , i.e. matte plastic

I still have an unused (but as above) rear centre panel (the one with the holes all along) for a 451, never fitted it - but it’d still want painting

The parts arrived painted I just need to fit them.

I watched that video but it's pointless unless they're actually doing it step by step while you watch.

Looks like I need to remove the fuel filler assembly from the offside wing somehow, that's not mentioned in any of the guides.

Thanks for that, Kane from Evilution kindly emailed me instructions on how to remove the fuel filler assembly.

I'll wait until it cools down in a few days, so my patience will last longer!

Unless they're a Smart specialist, all a bodyshop is liable to do is look on Evilution or FQ101, so they'll be no more clued up than you.

In my experience body shops are ham fisted fools when it comes to handling fragile Smart panels. You will likely end up wishing you had done it yourself.
The difference between good and great is nothing more than effort and commitment.

Just to report back, I managed this ok myself following the Evilution procedure. Took me all afteroon as I was being careful and having lots of cups of tea!

The side skirts were fine, no broken clips. I removed the rear door and put it in the boot. The rear bumper and wings all come off as one, and separate by undoing a few more clips. I then had to remove the fuel filler assembly and lights from the rear wing.

Reassembling the three panels took the longest, it's a bit fiddly and requires care with the new panels. Presenting it to the car is awkward on your own too but doable, and it all clipped back into place nicely.

Very pleased with the result, the colour match looks spot on.

I also bought a couple of bumper protectors, so I don't have to do it again!

Not the ridiculous spiked ones I hope. Not only are they an MOT failure, if a pedestrian catches their leg on one they would be well within their rights to raise a personal injury claim against your insurance.

The dome ones, obviously. I see them as equivalent to mushrooms which protect motorbikes when they are dropped, or a tow bar.
