Default Broke down this morning ...

... the car .... not me.

It started first thing with no problem after a week of not being used. Drove 20 miles without problem in both auto & flappy paddle, I slowed for a bend & got a bit of kangerooing and a knock from the gearbox area it it carried on ok. Came to a stop & there was more knocking as I thought it was about to stall .... it hadn't but I thought it had so in the best of traditions tried turning it off & back on again.
It wouldn't start .... ie not turning over.
It was in neutral so just pushed to a nearby car park & left it to think things over.

If it was a 450, it could be the clutch - they have been known to break straps inside the clutch module with similar results, but as it is not, I would say it sounds terminal - pistons.... if it won't turn over.

Can you get a spanner on the crankshaft and turn it?

It's not trying electrically .... never thought to try turning the crank.

I did get another fault code when I got home. Using an iCarsoft I got C1323 CAN communication with control N 15/6 (Sprintshift control module)

Not that I can turn it very far, but just been underneath it armed with a spanner & it does turn easily

Has the wire going to the starter motor broken / fallen off? 450's use a silly little spade connector for the solenoid.

Weeks later, my car is still at a local Merc independent.

The clutch actuator that Mojolinor very kindly lent me has been tried on my car as has the 'sprint shift' ECU. and both have apparently been discounted as to being the fault.

The independent now thinks that the sprint shift motor unit itself is at fault, though IMHO he's using the diagnose by replacement method of fixing my car. The 3 lines of doom are still showing on my dash (thanks to the Green Flag recovery bloke)

Is there any one out there, preferably in the North West, that could lend me a sprint shift to try on my car?
