    Default Re: Rate my actuator!

Someone checked my video and thinks it's the mount, which made sense to me as although never had a smart before so nothing to compare it to it does vibrate a fair bit. He also said he could see the actuator had been moved and looked further away than is usual, I wondered if that could have been caused by the engine mount?

Is there a simple way to check the mount please?

    Thanks peeps

    Front centre engine mount ?

The rubber element does detach from the two metal parts of it.

It’s the main thing the engine pushes against when you apply engine power , so it gets a lot of stick, they have improved it over the years too.

Depending on age it may well be good to change it anyway.

What symptoms were you getting ?

Haven't driven since put a load of lube in by straw method on Thursday. Before it would jump into neutral when driving and wouldn't engage gear again until turned off for few minutes. Then clutch slips and would kangeraroo. There is some vibration from engine but never had a smart before so nothing to compare it to.
Any tests I could do to see if mount is fecked?

A duff mount just wouldn’t make it jump out of gear, it just wouldn’t.

You could try moving off from a standstill several times and listen for a knock.
You could also stab the accelerator (and release) in 1st or 2nd several times whilst on the move (3 or 4K revs ) .....and listen for the knock
