And how did I shape the locking plates?

Simple. I needed a 3” diameter 1/4” wall steel pipe to shape the sheet metal so cut a short piece off a hay turning machine.

Reason for better sound in a left hand drive 450 is the speaker bins are same size.

I obviously didn't hit it hard enough to take out all the play.

For the effort involved in taking the steering column out again, I can live with it. Hasn't put any more play into the steering system than it already has due to the rack and pinion, so not a problem.

It only takes an hour out and an hour in and I know you can do it.

Just found 15x40 universal joint with grease nipple. Don’t particularly like its price though. There must be cheaper ones out there so give us a wee help looking for them since it is all for a very good cause. To ensure longevity of our wee Smart cars.

I'm surprised you haven't modded the non-nippled yoke to be nippled

    Wouldn't be that difficult.

I still say you have way too much time on your hands.

I have thought of modifying a UJ to accommodate grease nipples but not as easy as you think. Will first have to normalise the cross as far too hard for any machining. Then heat treat it so becomes hard enough not to wear out. Might try on an old one first. A problem I have is somebody borrowed my harndess tester and did not return it. I need the tester to check hardness of cross both before and and after heat treatment.

Also problems with grease seal once you do that. On one with grease nipples the seal is designed to open and go back to allow old grease out, on a sealed one they are not.

Being hard aint a problem just spark erode it, easy enough to make.

The smaller looking drivers side box is deeper then the passenger side box, and the tuning ports on both are the same length so I conclude the volumes are the same. I hear no difference in bass tuning if I pan between left and right on my ForTwo.
