Been reading up about not claiming on insurance and the fact is you should report any accident to your insurer regardless if you intend to make a claim or not.

This means any type of scrape however minor should be reported. I've seen loads of cars about with minor scratches and indeed a friend of mine recently scraped his car against a wall and didn't claim on the insurance, he didn't get it fixed privately but he didn't report it to the insurer either.

I bet there are thousands of people out there who've got minor damage on their cars who never told their insurers about the "accident" because they never claimed and don't know that they should report it to their insurers or risk having their policy invalidated.

So how are your insurance company going to know your car has a little scrap ans whether or not it was done before you bought it?

Also, you will probably have invalidated your policy by notifying them at the time of the scrape.

Good point, it's an impossible term and condition to enforce.

Also have to wonder how one quantifies damage. Personally if it doesn't fall off while being driven then it's fine. Some people whinge when a bee farts on their paintwork.

Saw these guys parked in a local car park...

I bet they never told their insurance company about the accidents which caused this quite extensive damage.

Well there you go, just to prove my view. Perfectly fine, needs a bit of fairy liquid to wash ti off and you will hardly see it.

Assuming they have insurers to tell is somewhat optimistic these days.

Well they were supposed to come today and pick my car up but they never turned up! Guess they didn't need the work, ah well that saves me 115.50

Won't bother to get it done now.
