Default Start / stop never really works

    Hi all,

How is everyone's Start / Stop?

I do about 10 miles a day to / from work, and it never kicks in. If I do the odd 100 mile journey, towards the end, it might kick in once, but then not again. I've recently had the first service, and like a fool completely forgot to mention this to Mercedes.

Would this be deemed normal due to my relatively low mileage, or does that sound broken?

    Cheers all,

    Pete

Mine kicks in all the time even after a few meters away from home, when the car is completely cold. I am looking to buy the start stop blocker as its a pain in the a** turn it off all the time I turn the car on.

I have to press the button on the gear stick to put mine into A mode every time I start the car, its probably less hassle than disabling eco mode I would have thought.

Mine doesn't have start/stop technology as its a not an mhd.

Yeah, I got the suggestion for this Stopper from Misterdotcom at other topic... seems to be okay and requires minimal modification...

This is the C453 forum, 453s have a different arrangement to the 451 MHD.

Start stop doesn't engage if you have the AC on that right?

There are about 9 conditions listed in the handbook for the start/stop to operate. The electronic version on my tablet won't let me copy it over (and it's too much to type out) so you'll have to RTFM yourself

Slightly different from what you say:

    "During automatic engine switch-off, the
climate control only operates at a reduced
capacity. If you require t he full climate
control output, you can switch off the automatic
    start/stop system by pressing the
    automatic start/stop system button."
