Help with P2A00 Error

Hello,

Hope someone can help.

My wife has only had her CDI Smart a short while and the Engine Management Light came one today. I have an OBDII Scanner and Torque Pro, and the code I have is "P2A00 Powertrain" "O2 Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 Sensor 1"
I have done some Dr. Googling and its all points to an issue with the O2 Heater Sensor. Now the cars been fine but yesterday my Farther law put some "Forte - Advance Formula Diesel Treatment" in.
Do you think its changed the emissions and therefor thrown up the fault?
Do you think i need to Syphon out the contaminated fuel?

Why did your FIL feel the need to put this in if the car was 'fine' ?

We have only had it a week so I don't know the fault history of the car, so was wondering if it was related or if I was barking up the wrong tree.

I do not think it is the fuel. The 2010 (late 2009) is a complex beast and is prone to this sort of thing. I think the best thing to do is to ignore it for now assuming it isn't putting the engine light on regularly and the car is not in safe mode once you have stopped it and started it again..

If you have just got the car then take it back and let the people that sold it you sort it out. If you bought privately then one has to consider why it was sold, you may be chasing a long running problem.

As intimated above, late 2009/early 2010 wa when the smart diesel engine went from EU4 to EU5 emissions spec, this added more sensors and this will be the root of the problem....and it will probably come back again .... and again intermittently.

Indy Places like BiG Performance can sort it out for you , but as mentioned we need to know where you are

As for the ‘contaminated’ fuel just use it and don’t bother with the additives ... it doesn’t need it.

The cdi may not NEED a diesel additive ... but it's flippin good fun to drive when you do use it

Thanks for the replies, the car runs fine. It didn’t go into limp home mode at all.

I’ve taken the fuel out anyway just in case and put some fresh in. Have reset the fault code an will see what happens!
