Default Roof or windscreen leak fixed.

Problem solved and the inside of the car is now dry and cosy.

Why not run a fine bead of clear silicone in the groove in the same manner with a pointy head of a sealant gun, using the pointy head to deliver it deep

Because that wouldn't solve the problem which was that the water wasn't escaping down the route that it is meant to take. I wanted the car to work as it should rather than use 'a fix'.

The correct "fix" is silicon sealant, not to punch a hole in the windscreen rubber so that water flows through it.

Maybe I am not understanding what you did and for sure I am not understanding where you did it.

Silicone sealant is not the right one for windows.

Silicone sealant excretes water as it cures, and this moisture ends up trapped against the bodywork, raising merry Hell corrosion wise. PU sealant is the stuff to use, the extensive Sikaflex range will have something suitable.
The difference between good and great is nothing more than effort and commitment.
