Forgot to say , you can find dodgy copies of Mercedes WIS (Workshop information system)

(Just ebay 'Mercedes WIS' ) , cheapest is about a tenner for the full set of dvd's (usually four) , runs as a VM (so slowish , but it has all the info that merc garage monkeys have to tear down smart cars)

I bought a cd off ebay and waited, then was told it got lost in the mail and the guy wanted me to download it directly from his site and on and on. I asked for a refund but haven't got it yet. Can anyone at least tell me where the fan is located.

Buy one that specifically states supplied on dvd's , there's loads of sellers, also make sure it's fairly recent.
But they do work if bought from a decent supplier.

Can anyone at least tell me where the fan is located.
Does Colin's diagram (from the link I supplied) not spell it out enough ?

As great of an artist as he is, an actual picture from under the dash with an arrow would be nice. I'd use the battery as a reference point for the diagram but I've never even seen the battery on either of my Smart cars and I've owned one of them for 5 years. I'll get down there and dig around and look for the fan when I have time.

I ordered another set of dvd's, so we'll see if they actually come this time.

Evliution's guides are easier to follow:

Removal is all a bit 'by feel' anyway due to its' tucked away' nature.

Just manoeuvre your head in on your back. No need being related to Houdini to get yourself out. Perhaps smart having an assistant to pass over tools and torch.
