Thread: Air con pipe

    Default Air con pipe

Hi, my roady hasn't had an air con belt on for some time but never used it anyway.the metal pipe connecting to air con motor ? Has now snapped .what I want to know is will it harm the car if I leave it or should I get it repaired.there is a whining noise which I presume is coming from the broken pipe but the car runs fine no problem. Thanks

Apart from letting in dirt/moisture , there will be nothing really untoward , the system will not allow the compressor clutch to actually engage (if you tried selecting aircon) cos it can sense the system pressure is fully down.
The whine will/should just be general belt/alternator whine.

Thanks for that. Will it be better to seal both ends to stop dirt getting in then.
