    Default Mpg after remap? Roadsters

    Hi guys,

People here who have had remaps, what sort of mpg do you get afterwards?

Supposedly the combined mpg of the Roadster is around 50mpg...

The main reason i bought the car is fun fuel economy (Having a Nissan 350Z before this), i would like to get her remapped, but i don't really want to lose out on too much fuel economy...

It's still gonna be a 698 engine underneath it all, you can't really turn it into a gas guzzler can you
    I say do it

A remap doesn't only make fuel consumption worse. It can go either way. If you drive sensibly, you'll get a better MPG. If you drive like a nutcase, you'll get rubbish MPG.

    Best of both worlds then

Dont suppose anyone would have any figures to compare before/after?

    My 2002 city-coupe mk5 599cc as recently remapped from 54 to 72bhp.

Before hand it was doing about 56mpg with the standard steel wheels on and 49mpg with Brabus Monoblock VI wheels on. After the remap and generally driven quickly, the mpg with the Brabus wheels improved to about 52mpg ish. I've only just recently put the steels back on but a long trip to Gaydon and back with periods of quick driving, I got 61mpg out of it. Bear in mind that was all on different roads with a car that isn't all that well. On the way there and back, I encountered the following:

    Open motorways
    Chester City-Centre roads
3 mile long queue on the M6/A449 averaging about 3mph.
    A51 country roads
Car cutting out/restarted 7 or 8 times during the trip

As Evil says, it is down to the driving style. Knocking the car down from 6th to 4th on the motorway and blasting is damned exciting but you do pay for this. How wide the wheels are, onboard weight and the weather all factor in.
