Maybe it did when he bought it?, maybe somebody should educate him as to the current retail which is the only valid reference

Maybe I'll try and get one half price when I order my 453.

I'm sure these have been 1800 from day 1 and I think there was a 2200 option with a more powerful motor but I might be wrong, it could have been a Mercedes bike.

If you don't ask, you don't get. I don't think they are selling that many.

This old review (and lots of others) suggests it was 2500 in 2013

You never know at initial launch they might have pitched it at 2800 for a week or two.

This from last year suggests two different motors

    Motor Type / Nominal Output : Rear-Mounted Gearless Direct Drive Hub / 350 watt (250 w in Europe) -

They (typically) do more versions of it in germany ... a couple with front suspension.

The hack is an invite for trouble nowadays after some scallies riding on pavements hurt folk (not e-bikes I must add) ..result being that the resulting furore was brought up & followed up in parliment about charging cyclists ..which when looked at was as flawed as heck in comparison to many other things (barrel of worms)..suffice to say, riding on roads over a certain speed & having your bike checked by police on the spot not leaving you able to pull the over-ride chip (affecting all warranty anyway because it logs speeds etc & any claim on a replacement motor will show up).

my biggest thing with e-bikes is price, realistically yo can buy an ok second hand car for the price of a "good" one, the motors are not typically upgradeable as a new one comes out, according to sources & service departments I've called & discussed models with.

replacment batt pack are typically easy to crack open & sort a duff cell, compared to 500 for a new pack, it's not rocket science they follow the 18650 standard.
