This forum should be used where your topic is "smart" related but not smart model specific (see dedicated Forums for each model below).

  1. Club Logo Sticky Thread Sticky: Photo issues on our Forum (and across the internet)

For years Photobucket has been a great place to host photos to then embed into forums like ours. However, this has changed, and to be able to do this from Photobucket you now need to pay a $399 yearly fee. So, we're afraid you'll be seeing plenty of this 4265 from now on :angry::angry:

  2. Hire car smart?

Having come back from Switzerland / France recently I saw more than a few smarts (curiously enough). My wife & I are when not carrying my snowboards (visit summer & winter) pack light, & soon it will likely be just the two of us in an unnecessarily massive hire car. Now the problem is...

  3. Electric fortwo & forfour @ fullycharged show (silverstone) ..expensive farce

Oh smart, you dropped a b0110ck, block of led's, sound & 2 fully electric vehicles at the show yesterday, but the sole purpose was for the girls (without any product knowledge) to merely be there to gather emails for marketing purposes. The boot of the EV for two was locked up citing "key fob...

  4. Sili"con" or not?

Having just tried to buy some Sonax "pfleger" the other day (the links from evilution weren't up to snuff on this occasion) I looked it up on amazon, ordered (the price had rocketed up whilst in my basket recently so I voided the sale) now with it back down to previous levels I purchased. Ended...

  5. Smart media TomTom update.

I've had an email from TomTom to carry out a critical update by the 6th April 2019. Has anyone else had this and carried out the update?

  6. South East England - Looking for a Cabrio (any but MHD) or Brabus (coupe or cabrio)

I'm trying to get myself a cheaper car for a fun runaround (already have a 17 reg ForTwo which is going soon) and have had Smarts since 2005 so familiar with the brand and the evolution from the days of turbo lag and turbos going bang :icon_smil. I came back on here to see if there were any...

  7. Cool 450 17th Birthday...

Hello there, My 02 Pulse celebrated its birthday today with an MOT pass, so hopefully another year of trouble free (ish) motoring ahead. Just 1500 miles covered in the past year with the only issue being a flat battery in November after having not driven for approx. 3 weeks. However this was...

  8. Dog transportation

Hi all, We recently picked our little border terrier pup up and he's loving life. I have been putting him in the boot of our 450 when we go out (2 of us in the car, plus the dog). This isn't ideal as he isn't tethered in anyway. Just wondering what you guys do/where you attach them to? ...

  9. Sell or Stash?

I've owned my 2002 Smart Fortwo (City-Coupe, to give it the period correct name) for nearly two years. For the eleven years previous to that it was registered to my partner, so it has been "our" car for almost 13 years. We bought it privately at 4 years old having wanted one for ages, can still...

  10. Car insurance

Yes, it's that time of year for me. My renewal came through from Admiral at just over 220. Not too bad, but just for reference I thought I'd try a few places. Not gone on the comparision sites yet, just tried smart's own insurance for starters. I have 12+ years NCB, drive less than average...

  11. Thumbs up Thanks to Fudgesmart

After some 13 years and over 162,000 miles (261,000km) the engine in my 2005 fortwo decided it had enough of running on 3 cylinders. It was not the usual burnt out valve scenario that can happen, but mainly due to a failed timing chain tensioner, causing the chain to go slack, chewing a hole in the...

  12. Hello, new (old) 450 model owner

Hi, introductions are due. Have always had a soft spot for the fortwo since the beginning, & at this late stage we saw & bought on impulse a smart city coupe 700cc, *semi*auto, petrol, black on black, alloys, panoramic roof, 2003 pulse with just a smidgen over 26k on the clock. Bodywork,...

  13. reply with quote

I see frequent posts that have used the 'reply with quote' but when I click on the tab I just get the circle of dots going round & round & round .... Am I just not waiting long enough or am I doing it wrong.

  14. "General" panel re-spray question

Before I contemplate go "boots n' all" in on a more recent smart (black / white or silver) in my current field of vision can anyone offer me a recent-ish cost of having a quarter panel or similar work corrected. Model 453: 2015 poor respray & subsequent vehicle grading seems to be common,...

  15. Please explain, is MHD stop start system still used in later models?

I can see lots of (understandable) cursing about MHD on various smart platforms, & simply don't know whether it was dropped / refined & works seamlessly nowadays? (I see no mention of it for ultra modern smarts, but i'm wary). I know it (stop start) is a B.S. idea that only works "a bit of the...

  16. Electric Smart Test Drive

Hi, I realise this may be a fiery topic and I'm not trying to start a 'this is better than that' thread... Is it actually possible to get a test drive in the newer electric Smart yet? I was under the impression that Smart were, in less than a month going to produce nothing else BUT...

  19. Child Seat for Smart Fortwo 450

I've got an old 2005 fortwo cab......and a five year old boy now. I've read about car seat fixings/frame for the 450 that let you install a boost seat on the passenger side and have even read about a child seat that Mercedes made. Anyone have any idea where I can source the fixing/frame or seat?

  20. Delphi

Ah well, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and splash out on some diagnostic equitment. I like new tools anyway :icon_smil Delphi has been mentioned lots. Can anyone recommend where and which set up to buy? Would this do the job? It has a choice of versions 2014.2, 2014.3, and 2015.3...
