This forum should be used where your topic is "smart" related but not smart model specific (see dedicated Forums for each model below).

  1. Club Logo Sticky Thread Sticky: Photo issues on our Forum (and across the internet)

For years Photobucket has been a great place to host photos to then embed into forums like ours. However, this has changed, and to be able to do this from Photobucket you now need to pay a $399 yearly fee. So, we're afraid you'll be seeing plenty of this 4265 from now on :angry::angry:

  1. Looking for someone with MB Star in Cardiff area.

As per title. Looking for someone who can do key programming on my Roadster. I can't start my car so it has to be someone who is willing to come to my place. Please advise, (of course I am talking about paid service) cheers Tom

  2. Ride Quality - 451 vs 450....

Not sure if it's just me....I love my Smart, but the ride quality is just so rubbish! I owned my first two Smarts, a 450 Coupe, then a Cabrio, between the ages of thirty and about thirty-three....I also lived in Sudbury, near the border of Suffolk and Essex back then, and I don't recall ever...

  3. Car lift

My knees are getting too old for crawling around on the ground to work on my car so I'm thinking a portable car lift would be a good idea. Anybody already have one ?

  4. with smart going electric only from 2019, will your next car be a smart?

Had a test drive of a couple of forfour autos yesterday (both 71 and 90hp versions) at Mercedes Manchester. Very impressed with them, even the 71 felt nippy around town and was adequate on the M60, but maybe I'm just used to a lack of power having driven a 71hp 451 for 10 years and plan overtaking...

  5. Thumbs up 450 16th Birthday!

Hello All, Just my annual update for those that may be interested! I am happy to say my 450 will be the ripe old age of 16 in a couple of days time on 24th May and although it failed the MOT first time around due to no functioning brake lights :icon_redf, it was rectified by Fudge with a new...

  6. Blinking potholes

I previously mentioned my steering wheel was no longer straight when driving. Now turns out yet another front spring broken. This will be the second front that has snapped and have also had a rear break. Our other car, a Skoda Fabia, has had both fronts broken and sons Corsa a rear. IMO all these...

  7. Big day for my Smart

As the title suggests, yesterday was an important day for my 02 Smart City Coupe. Firstly, another MOT pass :angle: First advisories in years, awarded for slight play in the anti roll bar links. Oddly enough I bought a tool to help remove these only a few days ago. I must be psychic. ...

  8. Towing a 450 with a motorhome/ A frame- steering probs!

Trying to tow my 02 450 on a braked a frame, the steering slaps from side to side enough to shake the towing vehicle. I have read that a bungee on the steering wheel can stop it but this is not treating the disease, only the symptoms. It is professionally fitted qaulity kit (car-a-tow) and fits...

  10. Question Best place for a touch up pen?

Have a couple of small marks on my doors thanks to inconsiderate car parkers. I like the idea of having a small touch paint pen. Where is the best place to get a touch up pen? I have seen some on eBay that are called magic pens? Now I'm not a believer of magic and wondered if anyone else has gone...

  11. Suitable Removable L-Plates?

Hi, I'm just in the process of buying a forFour as my daughter's first car and I'm trying to work out the best option for L-plates. I'm guessing that all the front/rear surfaces of the car are either plastic or aluminium, so magnetic plates are probably out, but most of the adhesive plates seem...

  12. Frustrated and crying !

It's 7 weeks now since my 450 was taken out of action due to putting key fob through washer and dryer. New, Chinese made, fobs bought off eBay and also a Delphi box of tricks but unable to get it to recognise the fobs. No idea if new fobs working or not (checked batteries) ! Today decided to bite...

  15. Exclamation Hello everyone! Complete newbie alert, never owned a smart!

Just a quick hello to the forum. Spent a long time googling and reading the many posts on this forum about general smart ownership. Have never drove a smart but will be test driving the electric and brabus xclusive at Mercedes Brooklands at the end of May to make a decision. New or Used... not...

  16. MoT Failure; High Lambda Reading

This is not a question, but an answer, in case it helps anyone. It tries to bring together advice from various others sources that I have used in resolving a problem with my car. My Mk1 450 failed its MoT last week, with a very high lambda reading (as high as 1.15) All other emissions readings...

  17. Prospective buyer here.. is there a way to tell if oil consumption is high ?

Hi, I am in the process of looking at second hand smart roadsters but they are mostly around the 70-80,000 mile mark. I made a comprehensive 5 page buying guide with the best bits from the buying guides and various forums. It seems like most problems can be spotted with a comprehensive check...

  18. Upgrade to Smart Media System

Well after some miscommunications finally looks as though I'll be getting my Brabus 453. It has the normal radio and wanted to know if I can 1. Upgrade to a Smart Media system. 2. Cost of a unit 3. Can I fit, is it a plug and play using existing radio connections 4. Does it need any coding to...

  19. Leaving the Smart fold after 18 years

After eighteen years of Smart ownership, the same Passion cabriolet, I unfortunately had to scrap the car yesterday. Despite only having covered 80k kilometres it had reached the stage of uneconomical repair. It was great being an early adopter and meeting folks at the early Herts pub meeting,...

  20. Club Logo Goodbye for now.

So, after selling my Smart I shall be leaving the club on Sunday. Best wishes to you all and happy motoring.
