Hi Folks hope you can help? New issue with the roadster, it won't start. Over the last month we haven't used it because of the weather and it has been tucked away under its cover. Today went and started it to check the battery etc and it fired up surprisingly easily and ran fine so I left it...
Hi there, I've had a Fortwo for a number of years and am upgrading to a Roadster - hoping for a Coupe, but the notch back seems more likely atm. Could someone point me to some accurate measurements of the front and rear storage spaces (roof up) so I can check if my photography gear will fit? ...
Hi Folks This is my 1st post! Can you help please? We have a 2006 Roadster Coupe 80 and I have begun to notice something when pulling away from a stand still. It seems to be more when I have come to a halt using a reasonable amount of foot brake and when I go to pull away it seems that...
I've had my Roadster for about 6 months now and really enjoy driving the car. But just after Christmas it started pulling away violently when I attempt to pull away from a start gently. The first time it did this I was in traffic and it felt as though someone had driven into the back of me. If I...
I am getting somehow frustrated with my roadster which I've had for some 3 years now. These are the issues I'm seeing, does anyone happen to know if this indicates a major electrical issue and possibly the approximate cost of having this fixed? I am just a little woried that the value of the car is...
Hi. Quick question: How many hoses are connected to a roadster expansion bottle and where do they go/come from? I have shoe-horned a 450 smart engine into a van and tried to use as many Smart bits as possible but having trouble with cooling. The roadster radiator (with the bleed on the top)...
There's a roadster i pass on my way to work which i'm tempted to buy as a weekend toy, It's up for £650 but has a slightly noisy timing chain and the dash lights don't work. Any idea what i'm looking at to sort these ? I guess no dash lights would fail the mot although i could use my sat...
Can anyone give me any info on the best way to access the screen washer pump on a Roadster in order to change it? Thanks. Grahame
Just found out the horn on my Smart Roadster doesn't work, just before taking in for its MOT test! Have checked the horn itself direct to a battery and works fine! No voltage to terminals when horn pushed on steering wheel and the terminals are all clean and cables in good contact with terminals....
Hello, So I have an airbag light permanently in my roadster which I cannot cancel using my new foxwell nt630 pro. The error code is "B1170 - Short circuit to ground at crash output". I have never been in a crash and the light has only come on recently after either 1) a SAM unit change or 2) an...
Hello everybody. I'm a new user and new to Smartcars. I recently purchased a 2004 Roadster coupe. In the last 24 hours the alternator has retired  After some investigating I could be looking at £100+ for a new one. OR!! I can replace the brushes for a lot less, but I need the Denzo...
Hi all Got to my car this morning and the rear boot lid will not open, it was fine yesterday. I can't hear the latch releasing and when sitting in the car I can hear clicking coming from the fuse box. Could this simply be a fuse issue? Any advice please? Thanks. rach68

I have just joined the club as I have bought a 2005 Roadster. I have heard that I should run it on the higher octane fuel ( ie. Shell V-power) Is this correct please? Filling up is expensive and I don't want to waste money if it can be helped. I would also recommend www.FQ101.co.uk to all you...

Hi folks. I need to replace the material part insert on my passenger door. I've sourced a replacement which is better than mine which has a small rip in it. My question is whether I can take the whole inner door card off without first taking off the outer door skin/panel? Any advice appreciated
Hello my Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen. Newbie here. Roadster owner. I am wondering if there is a workshop manual available for my very small car. I want to get the engine out to refurbish it, I've already stocked up on Vaseline and tyre levers, shaved my hands and arms, and have a bathing cap...
So I got everything disassembled to repair the blower switch, found a gap into the footwell I could pull down the burnt connector and fit the new one, start putting it all back together, when I drop the screw fastening the contacts for the switch inside the middle console. I don't think there's any...
Well almost. Hello, if it wasn't obvious yet, I'm new here and I have a problem. About a week and a half ago my 04 Roadster came down with a three-bar error and I took it to a dealership (MB/Smart of Lakeside) to have it seen to. They took their time, cleared the error and said all they had...
